Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NOVOCART Inject plus is a third-generation autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) cell therapy product developed by Tetec AG (now part of Octane Medical Group). It is an injectable mixture comprising a patient's own cultured cartilage cells (autologous chondrocytes) suspended in a PEG-albumin-hyaluronic acid hydrogel. The therapy is designed to treat cartilage defects, primarily in the knee, by regenerating damaged articular cartilage and restoring joint function. The treatment involves harvesting a cartilage biopsy from the patient, culturing the chondrocytes, and then implanting the cell-hydrogel mixture into the defect site.
