Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NovoTTF-100A (marketed as Optune) is a medical device that delivers tumor treating fields (TTFields)—alternating electric fields designed to disrupt mitosis and induce cell death in rapidly dividing tumor cells. Bevacizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), inhibiting angiogenesis and reducing tumor blood supply. The combination of NovoTTF-100A and bevacizumab has been investigated for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). This approach aims to leverage the anti-mitotic effects of TTFields with the antiangiogenic action of bevacizumab to improve progression-free survival and potentially overall survival in patients with recurrent GBM[1][2][3][5].
