NOX-1416 + SOC is a combination therapy consisting of topical application of NOX-1416, a foam-based gaseous nitric oxide (NO) product delivered via microbubble foam, used as an adjunct to standard of care (SOC) for the treatment of chronic, non-healing diabetic foot ulcers. The product is prepared by mixing two solutions—one containing citric acid and the other sodium nitrite—which react to generate nitric oxide gas that is applied directly onto the wound bed. The mechanism leverages nitric oxide’s known roles in promoting wound healing through antimicrobial activity and enhancement of local blood flow. Standard of care includes established wound management practices such as debridement, infection control, offloading pressure from the ulcer site, and maintaining a moist environment[1][2][6]. This combination is currently under investigation in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and efficacy in diabetic foot ulcers[3][5].
