Overview

NOX-700 is an orally active dithiocarbamate-based nitric oxide (NO) blocking agent in development primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. In preclinical studies, NOX-700 has demonstrated the ability to lower serum glucose, improve glucose tolerance, and reduce glycated hemoglobin levels. It also preserves pancreatic islet structure and increases insulin immunoreactivity. The drug’s mechanism involves scavenging nitric oxide, inhibiting protein glycation, and modulating oxidative signaling through the redox-sensitive transcription factor NF-κB. Additionally, NOX-700 has shown potential benefits in inflammatory diseases such as cardiac allograft rejection by reducing cell infiltration and lymphocyte activation[1][2][3][5].
