Overview

NOX1416 is a foam-based topical product that delivers gaseous nitric oxide (NO) directly to the wound bed via a microbubble foam. It is designed as an adjunct to standard of care for the treatment of chronic, non-healing diabetic foot ulcers. The product consists of two solutions—one containing citric acid and the other sodium nitrite—which are mixed immediately before application to generate nitric oxide gas in situ. The resulting foam is applied topically and left on the wound for five minutes per treatment session. The mechanism of action involves local delivery of nitric oxide, which has antimicrobial properties and may promote wound healing through improved blood flow and modulation of inflammation. NOX1416 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its efficacy, safety, and tolerability in this indication[1][5].
