NP-300

NP-300 is a novel oral botanical drug product candidate developed for the symptomatic relief and treatment of moderate-to-severe diarrhea, including that caused by cholera (*Vibrio cholerae*) and other bacterial, viral, or parasitic pathogens. It is sustainably derived from the Croton lechleri tree, which is also the source of crofelemer; however, NP-300 is a distinct proprietary extract with a similar first-in-class mechanism of action. The drug is being developed under the FDA's Botanical Guidance pathway and has received orphan-drug designation for cholera. Its mechanism involves modulation of chloride ion secretion in the gut to reduce fluid loss associated with diarrheal diseases[1][3][4][7].
