NP-Apt + gefitinib is an experimental nanoparticle-based drug delivery system designed to overcome gefitinib resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The system utilizes an anti-EGFR aptamer-functionalized nanoparticle (NP-Apt) carrier to achieve targeted delivery to EGFR-expressing cancer cells. It is co-loaded with gefitinib, a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and rapamycin, an autophagy activator. This combination therapy aims to treat gefitinib-resistant NSCLC, particularly those harboring EGFR mutations like L858R and T790M, by promoting autophagy-mediated cell death. It has been evaluated in preclinical in vitro and in vivo models.
