NP002

NP002 is an orally available small-molecule nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist being developed by Neuraltus Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesias (LIDs) and related motor complications in Parkinson’s disease. In clinical studies, NP002 consists of nicotine dihydrate bitartrate given in escalating oral capsule doses multiple times per day, leveraging direct central cholinergic activation to modulate striatal circuitry and reduce dyskinesias, falls, and freezing of gait without exacerbating core Parkinsonian symptoms.[1][2][3][6][7] Early phase 1/2 data suggest the drug is generally safe and well tolerated, with signals of improvement on standardized dyskinesia and global impression scales when administered concurrently with levodopa.[2][5]
