Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NPC01 is an oral multi-herb traditional Chinese medicine formula, modified from Liang-Ge-San, developed and used at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and other head and neck cancers. In preclinical nasopharyngeal carcinoma models, NPC01 inhibited proliferation, induced apoptosis, and demonstrated antiangiogenic activity associated with suppression of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and reduced HIF-1α and VEGF expression. A retrospective clinical study reported improvements in cancer-related symptoms and health-related quality-of-life measures among patients with head and neck cancer receiving the formula.
