Overview

NPH-022 is a next-generation small-molecule analog of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) being developed by Nephraegis Therapeutics for the prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI), particularly perioperative AKI following major surgeries such as cardiac, abdominal, and liver transplant procedures.[1][2][3][5] EETs are endogenous cytochrome P450–derived eicosanoids that modulate renal and vascular function, including vasodilation, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and pro-angiogenic effects, and NPH-022 is designed to mimic and enhance these protective actions in the kidney.[1][5] In preclinical rodent models of renal ischemia and other forms of renal injury, NPH-022 has shown promising efficacy and safety, supporting its advancement as a first‑in‑class renoprotective therapy for AKI.[1][2][3][7]
