Overview
NPP-4 is a peptide developed by Coegin Pharma, in collaboration with the University of Bradford's Centre for Skin Sciences, for applications in skin pigmentation and self-tanning. The peptide mimics the natural tanning process by stimulating melanin production and its transport to the outermost layer of the skin, thereby providing a tan without the risks associated with UV radiation. Its mechanism of action involves the upregulation of tyrosinase and the enhancement of melanosome transfer. NPP-4 is intended for use as a cosmetic ingredient in sunless tanning and sunscreen products, with a commercial launch targeted for the end of 2026.
