Overview

**NPT002** is a phage-based therapeutic developed by NeuroPhage Pharmaceuticals (later Proclara Biosciences) as a potential disease-modifying agent for neurodegenerative disorders. It functions by binding to and disaggregating misfolded protein aggregates, including **alpha-synuclein** in Parkinson's disease, **beta-amyloid** and **tau** in Alzheimer's disease, thereby promoting their clearance. Preclinical studies in aged TG2576 mice demonstrated reduced beta-amyloid aggregates and improved cognitive performance, with additional evidence of safe clearance of protein deposits in nonhuman primates via intrathecal administration, where approximately 50% of the dose reaches the cerebral leptomeningeal space.
