NPX-CNS is a preclinical-stage CNS-targeting protein being developed by Neurophoenix for the treatment of non-inherited neurodegenerative diseases. The drug utilizes a cell-penetrating molecule (CPM) platform, inspired by the Rabies virus glycoprotein mechanism, to deliver the therapeutic protein across the blood-brain barrier. Its mechanism of action involves the inactivation of PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog) by disrupting the protein-protein interaction between PTEN and the kinases MAST1 and MAST2. By inhibiting this interaction, NPX-CNS aims to promote neuronal survival and regeneration in the central nervous system.
