Overview

NRCT-101SR is a sustained release formulation being developed as a novel therapy targeting glutamatergic synapses in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of the brain. It acts as a new class of drug for ADHD, working on glutamatergic synapses rather than the traditional monoamine synapses targeted by current ADHD medications. Preclinical studies indicate that NRCT-101 treatment increases glutamatergic synaptic density, function, and plasticity in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, resulting in improved cognitive function and emotional regulation. In clinical trials, NRCT-101SR has shown promise in reducing ADHD core symptoms, improving executive function, overall cognitive performance, and mood status, with a favorable safety profile compared to existing ADHD treatments.
