Overview

NRICM102 is a multi-herbal traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine (NRICM) in Taiwan. Originally designed as a therapeutic for COVID-19, it has been investigated for its potential in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other inflammatory lung injuries. The formula acts as an immunomodulator and anti-inflammatory agent, demonstrating the ability to improve pulmonary function, preserve lung architecture, and reduce the expression of key inflammatory markers including IL-1β, NLRP3, Muc5ac, and MMP12. It works by selectively modulating immune-related pathways, reversing COPD-associated gene expression patterns, and reducing cytokine signaling and chemokine activity.
