Overview

NRO-CMK is an adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy being developed by Neuroptika for the treatment of glaucoma, including neurodegenerative and normal-tension glaucoma. The therapy is designed to deliver a genetic payload that modulates the activity of Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) within retinal ganglion cells. By targeting CaMKII, NRO-CMK aims to provide neuroprotection to retinal neurons, which are typically damaged by elevated intraocular pressure or other neurodegenerative processes in glaucoma patients. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
