NRX-NGT019 is a small-molecule targeted protein degrader (TPD) being developed by Novorex for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Discovered using Novorex's fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) and artificial intelligence platform, the compound is designed to selectively target and degrade Leucine-rich repeat serine/threonine-protein kinase 2 (LRRK2), a key protein implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. By utilizing a proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) approach, NRX-NGT019 aims to eliminate LRRK2 rather than merely inhibiting its kinase activity, potentially offering a more robust and disease-modifying therapeutic effect. The program is currently in the lead optimization stage of preclinical development.
