Overview

NS-059 is an orally available, potent, and selective small molecule inhibitor of Spleen Tyrosine Kinase (Syk), developed by Nippon Shinyaku and its US subsidiary NS Pharma. Syk is a non-receptor cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in the signaling pathways of various inflammatory cells, including B cells, mast cells, macrophages, and neutrophils. By inhibiting Syk, NS-059 aims to suppress the inflammatory response and eosinophilic infiltration characteristic of Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA), a rare systemic necrotizing vasculitis. The drug is currently in clinical development to provide a targeted therapeutic option for patients with this complex autoimmune condition, potentially reducing the need for systemic corticosteroids and other immunosuppressants.
