NS-136 is a novel, selective muscarinic acetylcholine M4 receptor positive allosteric modulator (M4 PAM) under development by NeuShen Therapeutics for the treatment of schizophrenia and psychosis associated with Alzheimer's disease. It is an orally administered small molecule designed using artificial intelligence-based platform technology. Preclinical studies have shown efficacy against both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia as well as pro-cognitive effects in animal models. As of May 2024, it is in Phase I clinical trials for schizophrenia and preclinical development for Alzheimer's disease. The drug may also have potential applications in treating psychosis related to Parkinson's disease[1][2][5][8].
