Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NS200 is a peptide-based selective galanin receptor 2 (GALR2) agonist derived from the neuropeptide spexin. Originally developed by researchers at Korea University and subsequently licensed to its spinout company Neuracle Science, NS200 is designed to promote intestinal peristalsis and restore bowel function by directly activating GALR2, which is highly expressed in intestinal smooth muscle. It is being investigated for the treatment of neurogenic bowel dysfunction (NBD), including opioid-induced constipation (OIC), neuropathic constipation in Parkinson's disease, and hyperkalemia-associated constipation in renal failure. Additionally, preclinical studies have demonstrated that NS200 exhibits renoprotective effects in diabetic nephropathy by reducing urinary albumin excretion, glomerulosclerosis, and renal fibrosis, as well as showing potential antidepressant and anxiolytic activities.
