Overview

NSC-637993 is an imidazoacridinone derivative identified through the COXEN (CO-eXpression ANalysis) algorithm, which predicts drug sensitivity based on gene expression signatures. It has demonstrated significant in vitro cytotoxicity against a wide panel of human bladder cancer cell lines. As a member of the imidazoacridinone class, it is structurally related to C1311 (Symadex) and is thought to exert its antineoplastic effects through DNA intercalation and inhibition of topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks and apoptosis. Research has focused on its potential use in bladder cancer, particularly in patients who have failed standard platinum-based chemotherapy.
