Overview

NSC109555 is a small molecule competitive inhibitor of Checkpoint kinase 2 (Chk2), a key protein kinase involved in cell cycle checkpoint regulation and the DNA damage response. By inhibiting Chk2, NSC109555 disrupts the cell's ability to repair DNA damage, thereby promoting apoptosis. Preclinical research, particularly in pancreatic adenocarcinoma models, has demonstrated that NSC109555 can enhance the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents like gemcitabine. This synergistic effect is associated with an increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and subsequent induction of programmed cell death. The compound is primarily utilized as a research tool to explore synthetic lethal approaches in oncology.
