NSHO-102 is an orally available, small molecule selective antagonist of the α4β7 integrin, developed by Ensho Therapeutics for the treatment of immune-mediated gastrointestinal diseases, primarily inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The drug works by inhibiting the α4β7 integrin, a cell surface receptor that regulates migration of immune cells to the intestine via binding to mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1). This mechanism reduces recruitment of effector lymphocytes to inflamed gut tissue, thereby decreasing inflammation while potentially minimizing systemic immunosuppression. As of early 2025, NSHO-102 is in Phase 1 clinical development[1][2][3][7].
