Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NT-004 is a novel, non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) being developed by Nianyan Pharmaceuticals (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The drug is designed to selectively inhibit the overactivation of the mineralocorticoid receptor, a process that contributes significantly to renal inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. By blocking these pathways, NT-004 aims to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease and reduce associated cardiovascular risks. As a non-steroidal MRA, it is intended to offer a more favorable safety profile than traditional steroidal MRAs, specifically by minimizing the incidence of hyperkalemia, thereby allowing for broader clinical utility in patients with impaired renal function.
