Overview

NT-077 (also known as Xeraxis) is a topical spray formulation of tiotropium bromide, a long-acting muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist, being developed by Xero Pharmaceuticals (in association with Notoxins Holding B.V.) for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating). By delivering tiotropium bromide topically to the axillae, NT-077 is designed to locally block muscarinic M3 receptors on eccrine sweat glands, thereby reducing sweat production while minimizing systemic absorption and the associated anticholinergic side effects (such as dry mouth or blurred vision). NT-077 has been evaluated in an exploratory Phase I clinical trial in healthy male volunteers to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and local pharmacodynamic effects on sweat production.
