Overview

**NT-CoV2-1** is an investigational, intranasally administered **protein-subunit COVID-19 vaccine** developed by Oragenics. It comprises a recombinant prefusion-stabilized ancestral Wuhan SARS-CoV-2 spike-protein trimer, SmT1v3, formulated with Inspirevax's BDX301 proteosome-based mucosal adjuvant. By presenting spike antigen at the nasal mucosa, the vaccine is intended to elicit mucosal and systemic anti-spike immunity, including neutralizing antibodies, to prevent COVID-19 and potentially reduce upper-airway viral infection and transmission. Published mouse and hamster studies reported antigen-specific serum and mucosal antibody responses and protection in a SARS-CoV-2 challenge model.
