Overview

NT-GA is a combination dietary herbal supplement composed of rhubarb, ginger, astragulus, red sage, and turmeric (NT), combined with gallic acid (GA). It was investigated for its potential to reduce food intake and induce weight loss. Clinical trials showed that while the combination was well tolerated, it was ineffective in causing weight loss or suppressing food intake. Pharmacokinetic studies suggested that the lack of efficacy might be due to limited oral absorption of gallic acid, as its plasma levels did not increase significantly and were not dose-related.
