**NT-MnOL-Gd NC** is a non-targeted mixed manganese-gadolinium paramagnetic nanocolloid developed as an experimental **T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent**. It comprises a manganese oleate nanocolloid core with surface-associated gadolinium chelate and lacks the αvβ3-integrin-targeting ligand present on the related targeted formulation. In hyperlipidemic rabbit studies of atherosclerosis, it was used as a non-targeted comparator and showed less aortic plaque accumulation than αvβ3-targeted MnOL-Gd nanocolloid. Its paramagnetic manganese and gadolinium components shorten the longitudinal relaxation time of nearby water protons, increasing T1-weighted MR signal.
