Overview

NTB001 is a recombinant human coagulation factor VIII (rFVIII) developed by Nanjing Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hemophilia A. Hemophilia A is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency or defect in clotting factor VIII, leading to impaired thrombin generation and a high risk of spontaneous or trauma-induced bleeding. NTB001 functions as a replacement therapy, restoring factor VIII activity in the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade. It acts as a cofactor for activated factor IX (FIXa), forming the tenase complex that activates factor X (FX) to factor Xa. This activation is a critical step in the coagulation burst that results in fibrin clot formation. NTB001 is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated for its efficacy and safety in preventing and treating bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A.
