Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NTC-510A is an investigational oral nanoparticle formulation of buprenorphine developed by NanoSHIFT LLC (formerly Nanotherapeutics) for the management of acute dental pain. Buprenorphine is a small molecule opioid that acts as a partial agonist at the mu-opioid receptor and an antagonist at the kappa-opioid receptor. The NTC-510A formulation utilizes a proprietary nanoparticle delivery system designed to enhance the oral bioavailability of buprenorphine, which is typically low due to extensive first-pass metabolism. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for pain relief following third molar extraction, where it was studied alongside NTC-510, a combination formulation containing both buprenorphine and naloxone.
