NTC-801F is a small molecule inhibitor of the G protein-activated inward rectifier potassium (GIRK) channel, specifically targeting the I(KACh) current. Developed by Nissan Chemical Corporation, it is being investigated for the treatment of symptomatic bradyarrhythmias, including sick sinus syndrome and atrioventricular block, particularly in patients who have received pacemakers. By blocking the I(KACh) channel, NTC-801F aims to increase the intrinsic heart rate and improve cardiac function by counteracting the inhibitory effects of parasympathetic (vagal) stimulation on the sinoatrial and atrioventricular nodes. It is currently in Phase II clinical development in Japan.
