Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NTC chondrograft is an Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product (ATMP) developed by PrimeCell Advanced Therapy for the treatment of symptomatic knee articular cartilage defects. It is an autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) product consisting of the patient's own chondrocytes, which are harvested from a non-load-bearing area of the knee, expanded ex vivo, and then reimplanted into the defect site. This somatic cell therapy aims to stimulate the regeneration of hyaline-like cartilage, restoring joint function and reducing pain. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase II/III clinical trial (EudraCT: 2017-002601-35) comparing its efficacy and safety against standard arthroscopic microfracture.
