Overview

NTC014 is a first-in-class fixed-dose combination eye drop solution containing a quinolone antibiotic and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is designed for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial conjunctivitis in adults. The rationale behind this combination is to provide both antibacterial action against pathogens commonly responsible for eye infections and anti-inflammatory effects to control associated signs and symptoms. Clinical studies have demonstrated that NTC014 achieves non-inferior microbiological eradication compared to antibiotic monotherapy, even at lower total antibiotic exposure, which may help address concerns about antibiotic resistance. The product has shown efficacy even against bacteria classified as intermediate or resistant to the quinolone component under study. Developed by NTC, an Italian pharmaceutical company specializing in ophthalmology, NTC014 represents an innovative approach aiming for rapid symptom relief with reduced risk of resistance development[1][2][3][5][6].
