NTCELL is an experimental cell therapy consisting of alginate-coated capsules containing clusters of neonatal porcine choroid plexus cells. These cells are sourced from a unique herd of designated pathogen-free pigs and encapsulated using proprietary IMMUPEL technology to protect them from immune rejection. The choroid plexus cells secrete cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and a range of neurotrophic factors that support nerve cell function, promote neuronal growth, and may help repair disease-induced nerve degeneration. Following implantation into the brain, NTCELL acts as a neurochemical factory producing CSF and multiple nerve growth factors to support central nervous system (CNS) repair. It is primarily being developed for Parkinson’s disease but has shown regenerative potential in preclinical models for other neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, hearing loss, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis[1][4][5][6][7].
