Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NTHi-10-AS01E (also known as GSK2838504A) is an investigational recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of exacerbations in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The vaccine targets Non-typeable *Haemophilus influenzae* (NTHi), a major bacterial pathogen associated with respiratory infections and lung flare-ups in COPD patients. The formulation contains 10 µg of NTHi-derived antigens, specifically Protein D, PilA, and PE, and is formulated with GSK's proprietary AS01E adjuvant system. AS01E is a liposome-based adjuvant containing two immunostimulants: 3-O-desacyl-4'-monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and the saponin QS-21. By inducing both humoral and cellular immune responses, the vaccine aims to reduce NTHi colonization and the frequency of acute exacerbations.
