Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The NTHi BVP vaccine is a preclinical peptide-based bacterial vaccine being developed by BacVax to prevent infections caused by nontypeable *Haemophilus influenzae* (NTHi). Utilizing BacVax's proprietary Bacterial Vaccine Platform (BVP), the vaccine is designed using genomic and structural vaccinology to identify and incorporate highly conserved, protective peptide antigens. NTHi is a major cause of mucosal infections, including acute otitis media in children and exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in adults, as well as sinusitis and pneumonia. By targeting these conserved antigens, the vaccine aims to provide broad protection against various NTHi strains that lack a polysaccharide capsule, making them difficult to target with traditional conjugate vaccines.
