NTP0226A

NTP0226A is a novel plant extract derived from Irish bogland species, identified through the "Unlocking Nature’s Pharmacy from Bogland Species" project. It is being investigated for its immunomodulatory potential in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). In ex vivo colonic tissue explant models, NTP0226A has demonstrated the ability to reduce the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), particularly in patients with IBS. It also appears to modify the immune-metabolic profile of ulcerative colitis patients toward that of healthy controls, suggesting potential for therapeutic exploration in chronic inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract.
