NTP42 is a novel small molecule antagonist of the thromboxane A2 receptor (also known as the thromboxane prostanoid receptor or TP). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a rare and progressive disease characterized by high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. By blocking thromboxane A2 signaling, which contributes to vasoconstriction, inflammation, and vascular remodeling in PAH, NTP42 aims to reduce pulmonary vascular resistance and improve heart function. The drug has received orphan drug designation for PAH. It is currently in early clinical development with completed Phase I studies demonstrating safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers; further trials are planned for patients with PAH. Preclinical research also suggests potential applications in other cardiovascular disorders, heart failure, cancer, and genitourinary disorders[2][3][4][5].
