NTR-641 is a second-generation, engineered recombinant human deoxyribonuclease (DNase) being developed by Neutrolis for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). It is designed to target and degrade Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs), which are extracellular fibers composed of DNA and proteins released by neutrophils that contribute to the structural integrity and tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) resistance of thrombi. By enzymatically cleaving the DNA scaffold of these NETs, NTR-641 aims to facilitate the dissolution of NET-rich clots and improve microvascular reperfusion in stroke patients. Unlike first-generation DNases, NTR-641 is optimized for systemic administration with an improved pharmacokinetic profile and longer half-life, making it suitable for acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular indications.
