NTRX-07 (also known as MDA7 or MDA-7) is an orally available small molecule that acts as a selective agonist of the cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2). It is designed to enter the central nervous system and activate CB2 receptors on microglia, thereby reducing neuroinflammation without affecting mood or behavior. The drug has demonstrated neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects in preclinical models of Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathic pain by decreasing microglial activation, promoting amyloid-beta clearance, restoring synaptic plasticity, and improving cognition. Developed primarily for Alzheimer's disease by NeuroTherapia in collaboration with academic institutions such as the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Cleveland Clinic, NTRX-07 is currently undergoing clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease[1][2][3][4][5][6].
