NTX-529 is a small molecule positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (CHRM4), currently under development by Neurosterix Pharma. It is in the IND-enabling phase for the potential treatment of psychosis and mood-related disorders. By binding to an allosteric site rather than the orthosteric site, NTX-529 enhances the receptor's response to endogenous acetylcholine, allowing for greater subtype selectivity and potentially reducing the side effects associated with non-selective muscarinic agonists.
