NTX-819 is a small molecule negative allosteric modulator (NAM) of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGlu7), currently under development by Neurosterix Pharma. The drug is in the IND-enabling phase for the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety disorders. By binding to an allosteric site on the mGlu7 receptor, NTX-819 reduces the receptor's response to glutamate, thereby modulating excitatory signaling in the central nervous system. This mechanism is hypothesized to provide therapeutic benefits in neuropsychiatric conditions where mGlu7 signaling is implicated in the pathophysiology of stress and emotional regulation. Neurosterix Pharma, a CNS-focused company, is advancing NTX-819 as part of its pipeline of allosteric modulators for neuropsychiatric and neurological conditions.
