Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nu-10 is a developmental antimicrobial agent belonging to the novel Bisphosphocin class, currently being developed by Lakewood-Amedex Biotherapeutics. It is specifically formulated for intravesical administration via catheter for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI). Bisphosphocins are synthetic, low-molecular-weight compounds that exhibit broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including multi-drug resistant (MDR) pathogens and those residing within biofilms. The mechanism of action involves the rapid disruption of bacterial cell membranes, leading to cell death without inducing significant resistance. Nu-10 is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
