Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NuCel Eye-Ear Wash was an over-the-counter (OTC) irrigation solution intended for cleansing the eyes and ears. Manufactured by NuCel Labs of Idaho Falls, Idaho, the product was distributed in 1/4 oz plastic bottles. In January 2008, the manufacturer initiated a voluntary nationwide recall of the product after an FDA inspection revealed that the wash was non-sterile, containing bacteria and particulate matter. The product was primarily used for mechanical flushing of debris rather than as a pharmacological treatment with specific active ingredients. Following the recall, NuCel Labs ceased all production and distribution of the wash.
