Nucleotides + B12 is a combination therapeutic consisting of the pyrimidine nucleotides cytidine monophosphate (CMP) and uridine triphosphate (UTP), along with vitamin B12 (typically as hydroxocobalamin). It is classified as a peripheral neurotrophic agent that acts as an anabolic precursor, supplying essential elements for the regeneration of spinal nerve roots and glial cells. The nucleotides CMP and UTP are involved in the synthesis of phospholipids and glycolipids that form the myelin sheath and axonal membranes, while vitamin B12 acts as a critical cofactor for enzymes essential in DNA synthesis and neuronal maintenance. This combination is primarily studied and used for the treatment of neuropathic pain conditions, such as acute low back pain (lumbalgia), where it supports the structural repair of damaged nerves and improves functional recovery.
