NuDifin is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Shaperon for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). It acts as an agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 19 (GPCR19), a target that plays a key role in modulating the immune response. NuDifin functions as an inflammasome inhibitor by utilizing Shaperon's proprietary GPCR19-P2X7 modulation mechanism, which suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-18, IL-6, and TNF-α. By targeting both the priming and activation phases of the inflammasome, the drug is designed to concurrently reduce pathological inflammation and enhance the tissue regeneration environment necessary for effective wound healing. NuDifin has successfully completed Phase 1 clinical trials.
