NUMERENAL is a preclinical-stage small molecule prodrug being developed by Arafarma Group S.A. for the treatment of hyperuricemia and hyperuremia (uremia) associated with chronic kidney disease. It is a natural product derivative, specifically a flavone derivative derived from luteolin-6-C-glucoside, also known as homoorientin. The drug was developed as part of an R&D project between 2017 and 2019 with the goal of creating a novel active ingredient with high therapeutic efficacy and an improved safety profile for managing elevated uric acid and urea levels in patients with renal impairment.
