Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Numeta G13 is a specialized, ready-to-use, triple-chamber parenteral nutrition (PN) emulsion developed by Baxter specifically for preterm infants. It is designed to provide a balanced supply of energy, nitrogen (amino acids), and essential fatty acids when enteral nutrition is not feasible, insufficient, or contraindicated. The system consists of three separate compartments containing a glucose solution, a pediatric amino acid solution with electrolytes, and a lipid emulsion (typically ClinOleic, based on refined olive and soybean oils). These components are mixed just prior to administration by breaking non-permanent seals between the chambers. By providing a standardized yet tailored nutritional profile, Numeta G13 helps meet the high metabolic demands of neonates while reducing the risks associated with manual compounding of PN solutions, such as contamination and calculation errors.
