Overview

NuRalin is an oral small molecule G protein-coupled receptor 19 (GPCR19) agonist under development by Shaperon for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. It functions as an inflammasome inhibitor by targeting GPCR19, which is expressed on various immune cells. Activation of GPCR19 by NuRalin leads to the suppression of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway, thereby inhibiting the production and release of key pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-18. This systemic oral approach is intended to provide a more convenient or potent alternative to topical treatments for patients with atopic dermatitis. As of the latest pipeline information, the drug is in the optimization stage of development.
