Overview

Nurr1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the orphan nuclear receptor Nurr1 (NR4A2). In the context of oncology research, particularly cervical cancer, Nurr1 has been identified as a potential oncogenic target that promotes cell proliferation, migration, and spheroid formation while inhibiting apoptosis. By utilizing RNA interference (RNAi), Nurr1 siRNA mediates the degradation of Nurr1 mRNA, leading to reduced protein levels and subsequent attenuation of cancer progression. Research conducted at the University of Hong Kong has demonstrated that silencing Nurr1 increases the expression of pro-apoptotic and tumor suppressor genes such as Bim and p21, suggesting its role in modulating the transcription of genes involved in cell death and growth arrest.
